The wilderness joins the Pahrump, Mesquite, and California valleys on the California side of the state line south of Pahrump, rising into the northern Kingston Range. Elevations run from about 2,720 feet on the valley floor to 4,569 feet on a mountain summit across alluvial slopes, canyons, and bajadas of desert shrubs and yucca. Wild burros, desert bighorn, desert tortoise, and golden eagles use the area. An old four-wheel-drive track crosses northwest–southeast; there are no developed facilities.
