Remote west-desert mining town near the Deep Creek Mountains, established after 1870s discoveries and revived for copper, gold, arsenic, silver, lead, and tungsten. Many intact false-front buildings, mill ruins, and the old rail terminus of the Deep Creek Railroad remain; a handful of year-round residents keep the site from being fully abandoned.
