Gypsum sand dunes and mud-flat terrain on the eastern edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert at Knolls — the BLM Knolls OHV Special Recreation Management Area (~36,000 acres of dunes, hills, and playa). Dune sand forms as gypsum crystals from the moist salt-flat surface are reworked by wind — a west-desert geology destination distinct from Bonneville Salt Flats and Little Sahara.
