Ghost Town

Clifton

Tooele County, UT

Coordinate verified

Abandoned Clifton Mining District camp at the north end of the Deep Creek Mountains, predecessor to nearby Gold Hill. Gold discovery in the late 1850s–1860s led to a short boom (hotel, saloon, stores) before decline by the mid-1870s as activity shifted north. Surface remains today include foundations, rock walls, an old building/cellar cluster, and scattered townsite traces on public-access dirt roads — field ghost-town visit without entering mine workings.
