The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway climbs more than 2.5 miles up Chino Canyon from the Coachella Valley floor to Mountain Station at 8,516 feet in Mount San Jacinto State Park. Opened in 1963 after helicopter construction of mid-canyon towers, the cars now rotate. Restaurants, observation decks, and more than 50 miles of high-country trail wait at the top. The lower station is reached by a paved spur off Highway 111.
