Nevada Fall

Mariposa County, CA

Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.

Nevada Fall drops about 594 feet on the Merced River above Yosemite Valley, downstream of Liberty Cap. Hikers reach the brink from Happy Isles via the Mist Trail or the John Muir Trail, a strenuous climb of roughly 2,000 feet over about 5.4 miles round trip on the Mist Trail route. Flow is strongest in spring and early summer. Winter ice and rockfall close portions of both trails. The National Park Service keeps trail profiles, water guidance, and seasonal closure notices for the route.
