Muddy Creek cuts the San Rafael Reef and desert country of Emery County about thirty miles south of Emery. BLM wilderness and a former WSA protect the creek corridor and reef topography that canyoneers and backpackers use. Dirt roads lead into the San Rafael Swell; conditions change with weather.
