Rare desert wetland and riparian corridor on the Volcanic Tableland north of Bishop, managed as a CDFW Ecological Reserve with an overlapping BLM Area of Critical Environmental Concern. Alkaline springs support bulrush, cattail, and saltgrass marshes that host waterbirds, raptors, and endemic fish and plants amid basalt cliffs and shadscale scrub—one of the Owens Valley’s best public wildlife-viewing stops.
