1860s silver camp on the east side of the Cortez Mountains, later absorbed into one of Nevada’s great modern gold districts. Historic townsite buildings and mill ruins still stand in the shadow of the Cortez Hills / Pipeline open-pit complex; Nevada Gold Mines has maintained public access to the historic townsite with interpretive material while active mining continues nearby.
