1868 Central Pacific railroad town in northern Eureka County (Paiute name for the valley ‘gate’). Gravelly Ford and the Maiden’s Grave link it to the California Trail; a mile-long opaline sinter terrace and modern dual-flash geothermal plant mark one of Nevada’s classic hot-spring systems along the Malpais Rim.
