Nearly 20,000-acre BLM wilderness inside Mojave Trails National Monument preserving some of the cleanest free-standing sand dunes in the eastern Mojave, between CA-62 and historic Route 66 east of Twentynine Palms. Pale quartz sand piles against the Iron Mountains and Cadiz Valley floor; day-hiking and primitive camping (14-day limit) on foot from Cadiz Road—no motorized travel in the wilderness itself.
