National Historic Landmark and California Historical Landmark on SR-178 at the southern Sierra Crest (5,250 ft). Joseph R. Walker charted the pass in 1834; later used by Fremont's 1845 survey and as a mining freight route into Owens Valley. BLM manages the pass and nearby Walker Pass Campground on the Pacific Crest Trail.
