Isolated volcanic butte and National Historic Landmark on the Santa Fe Trail’s Cimarron Cutoff—the last great trail landmark before travelers reached the mountains. Named for its covered-wagon silhouette, it remains a prairie navigation point beside I-25 and the village of Wagon Mound.
