Mills Canyon (Kiowa National Grassland)

Canadian River canyon cut ~700 ft into shortgrass prairie on the Kiowa National Grassland — rim and canyon-floor campgrounds, riparian cottonwoods, and rimrock habitat for Barbary sheep, mule deer, raptors, and prairie birds. One of northeastern New Mexico’s few developed public wildlife-viewing gateways far from the Sangre de Cristo tourist corridor.
