Sabinoso Wilderness is rugged mesa and canyon country in San Miguel County along the Canadian River drainage. Access was long restricted by private inholdings; public entry points now exist under BLM management for foot and horse travel. High desert grassland and sandstone canyon make up the ground.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
