Stockton Bar

Tooele County, UT

Coordinate verified

One of the largest and best-preserved Lake Bonneville shoreline bars, spanning the strait between South Mountain and the Oquirrh Mountains south of Tooele. G.K. Gilbert mapped it as “The Great Bar at Stockton” (USGS Monograph 1). Stacked bars and spits record fluctuating ice-age lake levels; UGS GeoSights promotes roadside and dirt-road profile views from US-36 and the Rush Lake access.
