El Saucito Ranch holds the oldest standing house in Carrizo Plain National Monument, dating to about 1878—the only ranch house on the monument occupied from the pioneer period into modern times. An interpretive trail leads through the ranch complex; guided tours are offered seasonally, typically in April. The site sits in the northern Carrizo Plain grassland managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
