The Santa Rosa Wilderness covers rugged slopes of the Santa Rosa Mountains rising from near sea level toward 7,000-foot ridges above the Coachella Valley. It lies inside the larger Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument jointly managed by BLM and the Forest Service. Deep washes, desert slopes, and a few perennial riparian pockets mark the unit. Highway 74 and other monument trailheads provide primary access.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
