Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
Arid mountains and washes about 20 miles southeast of Indio. Agency notes list uncommon desert plants including Orocopia sage and Mecca aster on gypsum soils and stony slopes. Access is from Interstate 10, State Route 195 (Box Canyon Road), Red Canyon four-wheel-drive routes, and the Bradshaw Trail on the south.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
