Ruins of the 1868–1876 Mormon iron colony once called Iron City, founded as a second attempt to smelt ore from Iron Mountain after Cedar City’s furnace failed. Visitors can still see a beehive charcoal oven, furnace remnants, and foundry ruins on a short nature loop within Dixie National Forest, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
