Adobe ruins of the Eureka / Hachita mining camp in the Little Hatchet Mountains, about nine miles west of the later railroad town still called Hachita. Silver, copper, and lead supported saloons, stores, and a smelter in the 1880s; after the El Paso and Southwestern arrived, the old camp became Old Hachita and faded in the 1920s. Roughly thirty weathered buildings and headframes remain on a remote dirt road south of New Mexico 9.
