Big Hatchet Mountains WSA centers on an isolated fault-block range southwest of Hachita, the highest skyline in the immediate basin-and-range neighborhood. Access follows Highway 81 south of Hachita then County Road C11 (Hatchet Road) toward the mountain front. Recreation is undeveloped hiking and backpacking.
