North Wash Recreation Area follows State Route 95 south of Hanksville through a corridor of sandstone canyons used for hiking and technical canyoneering. Named groups such as the Irish Canyons and Hog Canyons hold routes from beginner to advanced. The highway makes trailhead access easier than more remote Escalante drainages.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
