On NM-4, Las Conchas is the eastern terminus of Forest Trail 137 along the East Fork Jemez River in Santa Fe National Forest. The path follows a Wild and Scenic river segment through meadows and volcanic canyon country at about 8,400 feet, a few miles from Valles Caldera. A nearby fishing-access site has toilets and picnic tables; hiking trailhead parking is smaller and often full on summer weekends.
