The Gold Fever Interpretive Site is the Forest Service start of a self-guided driving tour through Holcomb Valley north of Big Bear Lake. Numbered markers cover the 1860s gold rush that followed Bill Holcomb's strike: Belleville cabin, Hangman's Tree, stamp-mill remnants, and later quartz mines. High-clearance or 4WD is recommended on the fire-road loop. Pick up the brochure at the Big Bear Discovery Center.
