Fremont Gorge Overlook Trail climbs about 1,090 feet in 2.3 miles one way from near Torrey/Capitol Reef to a high rim above the Fremont River's deep cut through the Waterpocket Fold. After a short initial climb, the maintained NPS route crosses open mesa and ends at cliff-edge views of the gorge. It is a day hike with no water on the route.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
