Eagletail Mountains Wilderness protects jagged desert peaks and bajadas about seventy-five miles west of Phoenix south of Interstate 10. Courthouse Rock is a common landmark on approaches from Harquahala Valley / Centennial Road dirt routes. The wilderness is closed to motor vehicles. Hikers and equestrians use the washes and ridgelines in classic Sonoran Desert vegetation.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
