BLM Area of Critical Environmental Concern (~2,000 acres) in Chuckwalla Valley northeast of Desert Center set aside for desert lily (Hesperocallis undulata) and associated Colorado Desert flora. After wet winters the sanctuary stages classic spring wildflower displays among creosote and sandy flats, with quiet dirt tracks for day hiking and photography well off the I-10 corridor.
