On Utah Highway 12, Calf Creek Recreation Area is the trailhead for Lower Calf Creek Falls. A sandy six-mile round-trip trail reaches the 126-foot spring-fed waterfall, following a perennial creek past beaver ponds, oak, and canyon walls with rock art and granaries. A small campground and fee day-use lot sit at the trailhead 15 miles east of Escalante.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
