The Burr Trail runs about 66–67 miles between Boulder and Bullfrog, Utah, on a nineteenth-century cattle route across Grand Staircase–Escalante, Capitol Reef National Park, and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The western stretch from Boulder is paved; the eastern dirt segment includes the switchbacks that climb the Waterpocket Fold. In dry weather passenger cars commonly complete the route; wet weather can close the dirt sections even to 4WD.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
