Blackrock Waterfowl Management Area

Managed wetland complex on the Lower Owens River Project (LORP) north of Independence — roughly 1,500–2,500 acres of off-river ponds, seeps, and seasonal habitat (Drew, Waggoner, Winterton, Thibaut units) operated by LADWP for migratory and resident waterbirds. A primary Owens Valley birding destination distinct from Cartago Wildlife Area on Owens Lake’s south shore.
