A 100-foot Aermotor steel lookout stands on the North Kaibab plateau west of Jacob Lake. Built in the mid-1930s for fire detection, the tower is listed on the National Register. Big Springs Trail #51 links the Big Springs administrative site on Forest Road 22 to parking near the tower on Forest Road 454.
