The Mojave River's dramatic cut through rainbow badlands — locally called the Grand Canyon of the Mojave — protected as a BLM ACEC inside Mojave Trails National Monument. Surface water often persists here when the river sinks into sand elsewhere; trails, side canyons, and a small developed campground make it a prime East Mojave day-hike and car-camp stop.
