White Wash Sand Dunes are a roughly 1,400-acre BLM open-sand area south of Green River, fenced for legal OHV play, with cottonwood trees growing out of the dunes. Outside the fence, travel stays on designated routes to avoid private ranch and oil facilities. Two large parking areas west of the dunes serve as the trailhead. Bighorn sheep use the surrounding desert.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
