Largest of the three southern cones (JA, Black, Vulcan) in Petroglyph National Monument’s free Volcanoes Day Use Area on Albuquerque’s West Mesa. Loop trails sample cinder cones and basalt of the Albuquerque volcanic field with city views — geology-focused counterpart to the monument’s canyon petroglyph units.
