From the rim near Utah Highway 95, the Sundance Trail drops into the lower reach of Dark Canyon on a steep talus route, losing more than a thousand vertical feet. It is the usual day-hike and backpack way to the perennial creek in lower Dark Canyon, within and adjacent to Glen Canyon NRA and Bears Ears country. Dirt county roads leave U-95 near the White Canyon bridge to reach the trailhead.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
