Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
About half a million acres of saguaro-studded bajadas, mountain wilderness, and desert washes southwest of Phoenix make up Sonoran Desert National Monument. Designated trails include Margies Cove, Brittlebush, Lava Flow, and Table Top routes totaling about twenty-six miles in three wilderness units. Primitive trailhead campgrounds and hundreds of miles of posted roads support winter and spring visitation; summer heat is severe.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
