Silver Peak

One of Nevada’s oldest continuously occupied mining communities (silver discovery 1863; townsite 1864). Stamp mills, boom-and-bust silver/gold cycles, a 1948 fire, and—since 1966—Clayton Valley lithium brine operations (long the only commercial U.S. lithium producer) define the living town on SR-265. Nevada Historical Marker territory; small services and a classic ‘living ghost town’ Main Street.
