Pine Hill Preserve ACEC protects gabbro-derived soils in western El Dorado County that support a suite of rare and federally listed plants found almost nowhere else. BLM parcels are open year-round to foot traffic only for passive recreation. Designated parking is limited to sites such as Salmon Falls and Kanaka Valley. Cooperative management involves multiple agencies and the California Native Plant Society.
