Pakoon Springs is the most productive spring in Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. A one-mile loop from the County Road 111 trailhead crosses Mojave desert, then climbs a mineral mound of limestone and gypsum where water rises along a fault. Birds use the restored pools; a constructed bat-run pool lets bats drink. A vault toilet was added in 2020. Summer heat is extreme and the clay trail is impassable after rain.
