An abandoned house stands in a Gambel oak clearing within Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument: the remains of a late-19th-century dairy ranch established in 1879 by the Canaan Company on the Arizona Strip. NPS and BLM interpret the site as part of Mormon cooperative ranching and later cattle-baron ownership on the Strip.
