Nellis Dunes, also called Apex Dunes, is a BLM Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area of roughly 10,000 acres about 20 miles northeast of downtown Las Vegas at the Apex exit off I-15. Large sand dunes and open play support ATVs, motorcycles, and sandrails, with views toward the Las Vegas Strip. Congress formalized the recreation area in the 2010s; camping and target shooting are closed here, and there are no facilities. Nevada OHV registration rules apply.
