Company copper town above the San Francisco River near Clifton, built for the Detroit / Arizona Copper operations that fed the great Morenci–Clifton district. Housing, shops, and mill infrastructure once clung to the canyon; when production consolidated, Metcalf emptied. Remaining foundations and industrial landscape read as a high-country copper-company ghost distinct from the still-living town of Clifton and the active Morenci pit overlook.
