A short interpretive trail at the Coldwater Creek trailhead in the Mammoth Lakes Basin leads to Arch Mahan’s 1927–1933 gold-mining camp, preserved by Inyo National Forest partners in a state of arrested decay. Visitors walk among original bunkhouses, the Mahan cabin, and the slope-side diesel mill ruins without needing a backcountry expedition—Mono County mining history outside Bodie and the Mono Mills railroad story.
