Jerome clings to Cleopatra Hill above the Verde Valley, once a roaring copper camp that briefly ranked among Arizona’s largest towns. After the mines closed it nearly emptied, then revived as a historic hillside community of galleries, ruins, and overlooks. Paved SR-89A access; steep streets and strong winds are part of the visit.
