Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
Cascade Falls drops more than 60 feet toward private Cascade Lake on a two-mile out-and-back from Bayview Trailhead near Emerald Bay. The Forest Service route stays outside Desolation Wilderness, so no wilderness permit is required. The path is mostly level but rocky, with views of Cascade Lake and Lake Tahoe. Cascade Lake itself is private and closed to the public.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
