Approximate location — plotted from published sources, not a site visit, and not a guarantee of access.
Broad Canyon Wilderness covers about 14,000 acres of volcanic desert in the Sierra de las Uvas portion of Organ Mountains–Desert Peaks National Monument west of the Rio Grande. Broad Canyon and its tributaries cut basalt flows into narrows and tinajas. Access is limited; few roads reach the boundary, and there are no developed trails.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
