The Bristol Mountains Wilderness covers tens of thousands of acres of Mojave Desert ranges northeast of Ludlow between Barstow and Needles. It abuts Mojave National Preserve. Travel is remote and cross-country rather than on developed trails. Summer heat is extreme and water is absent.
