Type locality of the Clovis culture (Blackwater Locality No. 1 / Anderson Basin)—stratified Late Pleistocene spring deposits where fluted Clovis points were found with mammoth and other megafauna. Eastern New Mexico University manages the National Historic Landmark excavations and a public interpretive trail/museum complex between Clovis and Portales on the Llano Estacado.
