South of Moab behind the Moab Rim, Behind the Rocks Wilderness Study Area is a maze of sandstone fins, domes, and side canyons. Moab Rim and Pritchett Canyon four-wheel-drive routes bound much of the unit. Hiking is mostly cross-country from rim trailheads.
Cultural sites and artifacts are protected by federal law (ARPA/NHPA) — stay on established routes, touch and remove nothing, and follow the managing agency's and the affiliated tribe's guidance on access.
